Small Dog Beds:  How to Choose the Perfect Dog Bed for your Toy Dog

Do you own a Shih Tzu, pug, Maltese, Yorkshire terrier or Pomeranian?  These are just the cutest toy dogs that any one can ever have.  They are small and can be carried every where.  You can go to the mall with your cute little dog safe and happy in your arms.  You can tie them with a leash and they become even happier strolling in the mall with you.  When it comes to sleeping, you can make them the happiest dogs by giving them nice and comfortable small dog beds.  They will appreciate a cozy place to lounge around or sleep in. 

Small dogs tend to get cold easier than big dogs.  The reason is because they have lesser body fat that can shield them from cold.  It is very important that you give them a dog bed that they can use every night.  It is a waste of money buying them just any bed that they will not use.  How can you choose the perfect dog bed for your dog?

You can bring your dog to the pet store and have them try the dog bed. The first consideration is of course if your dog will be comfortable with the bed. There are some dogs who don't like very soft beds. There are dogs who love a bed with a cover. Some dogs will be annoyed if their beds are covered. Check out luxury dog beds and find one that you think your dog will like. Buying a comfortable and classy lounge for your dog will prevent him from always going to your sofa.

Check the price of the bed.  You don’t want to waste your money on a very nice bed on one store only to find out in the end that the other store sells the same bed for half the price.  Shop around first so that you can compare prices.  Always remember that an expensive bed doesn’t necessarily mean that it is made from good materials.  Sometimes you can find one that is made from the same top quality products but with a much more affordable price.  To be sure, check out at least 3 shops before you make your selection.

You also need to consider if the bed is easily washable. Even the most trained dogs can wet their bed when they sleep. You can choose a waterproof dog bed so that you don't have to wash it. Or, you can choose a washable bed. Either way, you need to consider this because you don't want your house to stink especially if your dog sleeps inside the house.

The last consideration is the style and the color of the bed.  I say the last because many dog lovers make this the first in their list.  When they see something cute, they buy it on impulse not thinking if it will be comfortable, if it has the right price and if they can use it for a long time.  Don’t be one of them.  It is important to have a beautiful small dog bed but consider the more important factors first before the color and the style.
